When can I schedule a session?

Portraits: Weekends are in demand, however weekday schedules are more flexible. It’s best to schedule 2 weeks ahead, depending on time of year. Spring and fall fill up quickly. Please call to schedule your appointment. 512.707.0070.

Weddings & Events: It is not uncommon for us to be booked a year in advance. Please contact as to availability. Weekends are in demand. We specialize in destination weddings & events.

What time of day is best for babies?
Because It is important that a baby be rested and content during a shoot, it is recommended that you schedule a baby session, or family session with small children after they have had their nap.

When to arrive:
Please arrive on time, as it will take time to touch up hair, makeup, and attire.

Should I use a makeup artist?
Make-up artists are not required, but highly recommended. In my 25 years experience, I have found that having your makeup done professionally can make a big difference. Your makeup needs to be “photo ready”. Our make-up artists are experienced with camera make-up and you will look completely natural but perfectly flawless. The cost is additional but worth every penny!

What to wear:

• Solid Colors
• Dark clothes are less distracting and put the attention on your face and eyes.
• Avoid busy patterns and lines/stripes
• A suit or a jacket can be a great additional look for men.
• Clothes should be neatly pressed and should look new or like new.
• Wear clothes that are comfortable and make you feel confident.
• Do not overdress.
• Avoid distracting or dated jewelry.
• For multiple looks, bring a variety of clothing that will emphasize different roles/looks.
• For groups, coordinate color selection, sleeve length, and style.
• Sleeves are recommended so the viewer’s eye is not distracted.
• If your arms are toned, sleeveless tops can work for certain looks.

What to bring:
• a great attitude
• favorite CDs or iPod
• clothing (see above)
• lip balm
• hair brush/comb
• your favorite hair and makeup products

Arrive with:
• hair styled and makeup already applied (if not using makeup artist)
• nails manicured
• already dressed in first outfit

What are your prices?

Portraits: The creative fee depends on several factors: the type and length of session, travel fees, makeup artist services, use or publication of image… Our fees are reasonable. Please contact us for a quote.

Commercial: Day rate: $1400.

Weddings: Wedding coverage begins at $1800.

What type of equipment do you use?
We use the finest equipment and always carry backup.
My gearbox includes:

Digital: Top of the line Nikon D2X. Lenses: 12-24, 28-70, 80-200, & a Lensbaby

Lighting: Dynalite packs, Calumet Travelites, Quantum, Nikon SB-800.

Film: Hasselblad, variety of lenses, Hasselblad Superwide. Pinhole cameras: I use a variety of Jeff Fletcher cameras including 4x5’s, 5x7, stereo 4x5 &,8x10 pinhole camera.

When can we see our images? How do we view the images?

Portraits: Viewing your images projected in the camera room is breathtaking. We will help you make your selections & offer design ideas to fulfill your vision. A viewing appointment (one week after the session) will be made at time of scheduling your session.

Private Website: Your images will be posted to a password protected website accessed through www.brendaladdphoto.com within 1 week from date of session. Portrait sites will be posted for 3 weeks. If needed, a spiral-bound book of originals can be provided from which you can make your selections.

Weddings: 100 customized cards listing how to access your website will be distributed at your wedding to you and your guests. Everyone wants to see the images, and we like to post your web-album as soon as possible. To post the image collection, allow 2 weeks. To post the album, allow 3 weeks.

How do we order prints?
Ordering is easy. You can order directly off of the website, call the studio & place your order, or come in & meet us. We are here to help you in every way.

Where are you located?
My beautiful studio is centrally located in Austin, TX., off of S. Congress Avenue in the South Congress (SOCO) District; only .5 mile south of Town Lake. Nearby landmarks are The Continental Club and Guero’s Mexican Restaurant.

What are your hours?
I am by appointment. Please call to schedule a time to meet, whether it is for a consultation, to view & order, or to pick up your images. My hours are 9-6 Mon-Fri…. and by appointment.

Do you offer studio & outdoor settings?
YES! Our 24 x30’ studio has a private dressing room with daylight makeup lights, a bay window and a variety of backgrounds. The 1/2 acre grounds offer many photogenic settings including: rock pond with plants & fish, sunken garden, enormous oaks, old-fashioned swing, and landscaped garden areas.

Do you travel for a destination weddings, sessions, & events?
Yes! I am recommended as a photographer for destination weddings. My portfolio includes work from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States, including Hawaii.
